Saturday Night Live comedian brings laughs to Laughlin

Comedians Tim Meadows, noted for his presence on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, and Walter Campbell, a member of GI’s of Comedy and an Air Force veteran, join the 47th Flying Training Wing’s leadership for a photo before their performance July 29, 2018 at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas. LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas—Tim Meadows, a comedian noted for his presence on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, visited Laughlin, July 29, 2018, and performed here at Club XL.

Meadows traveled to Laughlin to perform his last of twelve comedy shows at different U.S. Air Force Bases along with Walter Campbell, a ‘GI’s of Comedy’ comedian and U.S. Air Force veteran himself.

Laughlin gathered to have a great time and share an interactive comedy show with Meadows and Cambell.

“It’s really great to have someone of Tim Meadow’s caliber here,” said Victoria Barlow, 47th Force Support Squadron community programs specialist. “It’s the kind of event we love to host for Team XL.”

Meadows was a fan of comedy ever since he was young, inspired by such acts as Saturday Night Live and Monty Python. His dream came true when Saturday Night Live hired him, and he has been performing ever since.

Putting on shows for the military was new for him, but when Campbell proposed bringing their humor to the Air Force, Meadows said it was an easy decision.

“It’s been fun,” Meadows said. “I have never had meet-and-greets with commanders. I talk to them about what they do, and it’s really interesting. Hopefully I can bring the base entertainment for an hour and take people’s minds off of training or whatever it is they are working on.”
