Laughlin volunteers were a key part of the 32nd George Paul Memorial Bullriding event, held in Del Rio at the Val Verde County fairgrounds, where riders from Mexico and the United States competed for $10,000 in prize money. Laughlin members helped direct parking, served as the Honor Guard and nearly 500 Laughlin members attended the two-day event. More than 8,000 attended the Bull Ride. According to Mr. John Ludlum, marketing director for the bullride, Laughlin members were an “integral part of the event.” He said the Laughlin’s Boy Scout troop cleaned every seat Saturday morning, hours before the event started and another team of Laughlin volunteers ensured the tarp that provided shade was safely in place. “Every year Laughlin’s participation grows,” said Mr. Ludlum. “And from our perspective, that’s a good thing.
